DESIGN & WIREFRAME

United wanted to build a comprehensive effort to recruit a new generation of pilots. Over the course of months, we performed a series of workshops with subject matter experts to understand what was needed, who our audience was and to learn more about the process of becoming a United pilot. After we had gained enough insight to move forward, we developed wireframes that were then tested with a group of potential users. Based on feedback from users we iterated again. A parallel effort was made to create a brand direction and logo by a separate design team within our department.

After many iterations and reviews, a wireframe structure was approved and we began to build the design of the website. I provided sketches for the website, and image selections for the designer to begin from. Together we discussed different options for design until we felt ready to show and discuss with the senior management on the team. We repeated this process for each section of the website, refining components as the design progressed. A parallel effort was being made to develop copy by an outside agency.

After the final design was near approval, development began to build out the website. I, as well as the Senior Product Designer reviewed, tested and provided feedback to the developer. Final copy was flowed in, and after everything was reviewed and up-to-date, the website launched and is currently providing a centralized location where candidates can learn how to become a pilot with United Airlines.
